Keeping Your Dog Cool During a UAE Summer
By Faru Vet Team 4 min read1 Sept 2026

Practical ways to protect your dog from heat stress during the UAE's long, hot summers.
Why summer is hard on dogs in the UAE
UAE summer temperatures regularly climb above 45°C, and pavement can be far hotter. Dogs cool themselves mainly by panting, which makes high humidity and enclosed spaces especially risky.
Daily routine
- Walk early morning or after sunset.
- Always carry water and offer frequent drinks.
- Test the pavement with the back of your hand for five seconds before walking.
Warning signs of heat stress
- Excessive panting or drooling
- Weakness or stumbling
- Vomiting or collapse
If you notice any of these, move your dog to a cool area, wet their coat with tepid (not cold) water, and contact a vet immediately. Use Faru's emergency vet contact for fast help.
At home
Keep blinds closed during the day, use fans or AC, and never leave a dog in a parked car — even with the windows down.
